BUILDING YOUR BEST LIFE: At the beginning of the weekend, my fiancé and I had our “open wall” walkthrough of the new house. This is the home as it looked on Friday morning, just prior to the next round of inspections. We met with our GC/Foreman and did a literal walk-through of the property, while the expert told us everything we could ever want to know about it. We were encouraged to ask questions, and found it fascinating to learn not only about the specific materials used, but why the builder is so particular about what goes into each home.…

“Shut your face, Suzy Sunshine! What the hell do you know about real life?” When you look at me, what do you see? Do you see: Confidence? Beauty? Strength? Joy? Kindness? Happiness? Positivity? A silly blonde? Yes- I am all of those, but i am so much more. To look at me now, you might never guess that I ever struggled, let alone felt pain, shame, and paralyzing fear for most of my life. From early childhood, i suffered as a victim of molestation, bullying, and abuse. It played as a recurring theme throughout my teens, and later manifested as…

True Confession: Last night, I handled my heartbreak in the most awesomely adult way possible. I curled up on the bed in a fortress made of stuffed toy animals and just sat with my sad feelings for a while. Inside my soft, safe, quiet space I cried for the victims of yet another senseless terror attack. I cried for the unrelated loss of yet another cultural icon and music legend. I cried for the divide among people around the world who are more interested in defending their positions than in engaging in helpful dialogue to address our very real problems.…

I took this photo of a fun directional sign on my trip to Norway earlier this year just because I thought it looked cool. 😎 Today I get to use it as the backdrop for my #mondaymantra and am struck by how TRUE this powerful affirmation is: “I have come a long way, and I am not done yet. I keep learning, I keep growing, I am stronger every day!” Sometimes we all need to lovingly remind ourselves of how far we have come, just so we can celebrate where we are starting from TODAY. You can do hard…

I love the energy shift in the first few days following a full moon. It’s as though there’s a collective release of negative thoughts and emotions and after getting a big hug from the universe, it is easier to set your sights on the possibilities ahead. Set your intentions now for what you want to create, open up to, or reveal in the weeks to come, and get ready to embrace the start of something new!

I’m always impressed with the tenacity of weeds in the city. No matter how much concrete, if there is even a tiny crack in the ground or along a wall, somehow nature finds a way through. I desire to be more like those weeds-pushing back against the hardscape, reaching for the light, blooming wherever I am. Today’s mantra is a powerful reminder: I am like a beautiful weed growing up through the cracks.

It’s Friday, and I’m in Norway. (Norway! I am still giddy saying that.) I’ve been able to travel around the world, always awestruck by the incredible sights and natural wonders. This tour of the fjords, though- I haven’t been able to wrap my head around how utterly, stunningly beautiful it is. As we were sailing into Geiranger yesterday flanked by mile high granite cliffs topped with snow and accented by 5000 ft waterfalls, I was completely overcome with emotion and drops of pure gratitude fell from my eyes in the stillness of the great fjord. This place is what the…

Being a mindset coach can seem like a frivolous and fluffy profession; a joke, a sham, a hoax. Kind of like when I tell people that I’m a writer and they respond incredulously with, “You can make a living doing that?” After the stinging slap to my face has dissipated, I smile and say as sweetly as I can muster, “Yes, and I am grateful for the opportunity to use my gifts in this way.” But it isn’t easy. The lessons I am learning about myself and the battles I continue to face in struggling with my own inner critic,…
