    #FridayFeels Lucky

So this morning, St. Patrick’s Day, I am facing one of my fears and sitting in the waiting room at the doctors office. Dermatologist, to be exact. Seems that having pale white & freckled Irish skin (or Welsh, or English, depending on which branch of Dad’s family tree I’m following) and growing up in sunny Southern California is more than challenging to the tanned, beach bunny stereotype. Add in growing up in the era of no sunscreen and generous pours of baby oil to sunbathe for hours on end, and it’s generally a pretty good recipe for some skin cancer.…

    Giving Up To Gain

For the past several years, I stopped attending church services altogether in favor of ditching religion and religiosity for a deeper, more authentic, hands-on, dirt-under-my-nails, faith-without-borders spiritual quest of healing and enlightenment. I chose to shrug off what had come to feel like confinement and faking it, and just figure out how to connect with and love people in a way that felt a lot more natural and right for me. It has been the best decision I have ever made, and it has allowed me to take all of the good lessons that I learned and apply them (love,…

    #MondayMantra I Welcome a Life of Abundance

Today, I invite you to shift your mindset to one that more readily welcomes abundance. This powerful mantra starts with a fun visualization practice: Begin to picture yourself on a golden path laid out before you. Surround your path with rich, vivid colors: flowers and trees, a lovely stream, beautiful birds singing, gorgeous rainbows in the sky. Engage all of your senses. Notice, there are no blocks or barriers along this path, it is simply open before you. Now feel a sense of peace & ease as you move along your path.   Mantra: I welcome a life of abundance!

    #FridayFeels- Honor the Struggles

Gentle Reminder: Please do not minimize or dismiss the struggles or pain that another person has faced. 💜 You and I may never share the same scars or past hurts, we may never fully understand what the other has felt, but it doesn’t make it any less real.  Be generous as you extend grace and compassion to yourself, your family and friends, acquaintances and colleagues and coworkers, and yes even to the stranger whose struggles you may never personally know- as though we are all One.

When Anger Is Killing You & How I Am Learning to Manage My Anger

Anger- there is no shortage of it. Even though for my own health and sanity I take care to spend the bulk of my time around people who are positive, mellow, and well-suited to handling stress, this powerful emotion is one that never seems far enough away.  All I have to do is take a quick scroll through Facebook or Twitter to see and feel the anger, wrath, or full-blown rage seeping through post after post after post, from the POTUS to the online trolls and everywhere in between. It’s exhausting, and I believe it is killing us. Now wait…

#FridayFaves: Loralie Young, A Letter To My Skin

IT’S FRIDAY! YAY! FRI-YAY!  It’s Friday and I’m excited to bring back my Friday Faves, a spot where I get to feature some of my favorite people and share what they are doing. Today I get to share an incredible article from Loralie Young, a talented artist and beautiful soul living in Cambodia.   I met Loralie online through the magic of the Facebook. I had seen her casually online in a group hosted by Kathleen Shannon and Emily Thompson called Being Boss (OMG I LOVE THOSE LADIES! ::Fangirl Moment::) but we only really connected when she commented on a…

    #FridayFeels My Pledge

I am a peaceful warrior, and This is my Pledge: I will Resist the Hate. I will spread Love. I will live to Encourage, Empower, and Inspire. ❤ I believe that we are all created to live in peace, safety, and freedom- beginning with love for self and extending that to each other.  I don’t want to live in a world that turns its back on suffering, that shuts its gates based on religion or ethnicity, that discriminates against women and people of color and people with disabilities and people who are poor and people who are not heterosexual.  …

    Tears in the Texaco

This morning, a complete stranger made me cry in the Texaco parking lot. I had just finished getting my car quick-washed and was getting ready to merge into the exit lane, just waiting for a little more space to open up.  My latte was just the right temperature.  I had just cleared some space in the cup holder after giving $1.50 in quarters to a homeless man named Alfred.  I was feeling pretty excited, as I was on my way to celebrate birthday lunch with my bestie. Just started to roll into the open space in front of me when…
